The attraction for me is the tight pro musicianship, with one of the best harp players I've come across in a long time - RICHIE BLUE. This guy squeezes out tortured notes with superb breath control, and has an individual approach in all kinds of styles. Harmonica-wise he's in the thick of it on the West Coast with the standard being shit-hot!

Richie Blue's diverse style is unprecedented. He can be smooth, soulful and dynamic when called for.. yet edgy with a definite unmistakable signature sound. One will never have the same experience twice.

If you think you have heard harmonica players, think again! There is no recipe for the rare fix of sound Richie Blue infuses into his audience. A true 'in the moment' type of experience. The mark of musician that has done his homework. Spontenaity with persuasive delivery..

Years of blues experience combined with the hip flair of 'now'. Blue's clean, crisp perfection on the harmonica doesn't stop where one would expect. Typical remarks you will over hear at a live perfomance are-- 'How does he do that?, I never heard anyone play harmonica like that., I didn't know the harmonica could sound that way., He's good!' -- etc..etc. Richie Blue keeps it real interesting with plenty of surprises. Entertainment that will make you smile.

Very impressive! Richie Blue is very talented and diverse. He never pigeonholes himself. The mark of a diligent, devoted musician with a keen sense of self expression, Blue has an amazing ability to infuse harmonica phrases where you wouldn't expect them--very imaginative...

“Blues On My Radio” Richie Blue’s savvy harp stands out with its shrill blasts and coiled chords. “The Devils Been Knocking”. Here, the harp does a wicked demon dance while Lucifer wails a sinful Dr. Evil laugh. “The Other Team” Here, Blue’s harp reflects a Stevie Wonder influence
-Richie Blue’s harmonica review on the Boogiemen CD “A little Trim” Wrtten by www.bluenight.com

No mistakin! As far as local yestergenre practitioners go, the Boogiemen are cream of the sock hop. Along with the swing-beat standup bass and hi-hat shuffle of “Boiler Maker',- harp maestro (and damn do I mean maestro!) Richie Blue ripsnorts like a swampland longshoreman whoopin' on a smoke break. On “Who Been Talkin' his harmonica’s wail is so human the instrument may as well sing.
-Troy Johnson, City Beat Magazine, San Diego, CA

The Boogiemen have a blues sound that may jump from tradition from time to time, but does so with great respect for the heritage of their music. The band’s blues is filled with the energy of funk and swing and even a little jazz, yet it remains an unabashed blues sound. When Richie Blue breaks into a harmonica rift, it takes on a life of its own and won’t yield until every last note has been squeezed out of his Hohner.
